Nkechi Onyeka, Talks About The Inspiration Behind Her New Book, Family Mandate

 In this exclusive interview we had with Mrs Nkechi Onyeka she took us through her family, ministry, and her new book set to be launched soon.

What personal experience(s) led you to write about this book, Family Mandate, and what do you hope readers take away?

There is a decay in the society that is nauseating and should not be. God created the world, marriage, and every other thing, and after creation he looked at all he created and said it was good. Yet we do not see that goodness in our world; a corruption has happened, and it is from the family. Little subtle things like a wife not submitting to her husband can create exposure in the home for the enemy to perpetrate. It's time to come into alignment with God's will, where only his words, systems, and methods will be exalted. It begins with and in the family.

How do you respond to critics who say women should not be in ministry?

Oh well... I didn’t call myself. They would have to go to God to question him.

Tell us about a memorable experience from your pharmacy career that shaped your perspective.

How I attended to many COVID patients in 2020 without contracting the virus: God was with us all through.

What role do you see faith playing in shaping the future of families?

Faith comes from knowledge. Faith is what helps you stay resilient. You cannot talk about faith without knowledge. When you are armed with truth, the spirit of faith will rest on you and shield you from the darts of the enemy, and thus God's realities are enforced, changing the future.

What's the one thing you hope families will take away from "Family Mandate" and apply to their lives?

That everything they need to run their homes and train their children will stem from their alignment.

Who or what inspired the title of this book, Family Mandate, and what's the one thing it will do for your readers?

As an individual, I love to attack unpleasant situations at the core; I prefer to confront an anomaly from the very root and not the surface. I have seen the decadence in the society and world at large and have discerned the best way to confront this is realigning the family system to God's model.

Tell us about your pharmacy experience. How did it shape your perspective about motherhood?

It gave me an edge. Looking after my children, their diet, their skin their hair, I knew what to do, and what I didn’t know, I researched. Another important role of a pharmacist is that they are researchers.

Society says we should let our children choose who they want to serve or what they want to do. What are your thoughts on this?

I absolutely do not agree

Firstly, I find it strange that a child would align with a separate religion from what she grew up with. There was a potential gap somewhere in upbringing that was ignored

The bible says, train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it

I see a partnership between parent and God in this verse, that if i do my part in training my child, God will ensure that they do not depart from it.

How will you describe the impact of your book, Family Mandate, on the next generation of families?

It will align homes back to the original intention of the father

The society in turn will become a better place.

Can you share a challenging moment when you had to balance your professional and ministry work?

Oh yes...

There were times when I had no staff, no help at home, and I had to juggle all that with being a wife and a mother while I grew spiritually. It was quite a season, lasting for over 3 years. I knew God made me go through that season to build me. I would put up an ad for staff, and not one person will show up. My children will be with me in the pharmacy till close of work, and When they grew a little, I started to take them home, stayed a bit, put them to bed and returned back to the pharmacy At this time my eldest was 10 years old. With all of this, I would still pray for about an hour or two every midnight It was quite a season but it made me strong
