Video: Man threatens to beat NEPA official for trying to disconnect his apartment
Altercations between officials of electricity companies in Nigeria (NEPA) and their customers have always been a major hallmark that defines the relationship between both parties, as some Nigerians always seek to use electricity without paying, while the power company officials on the other hand are always on the lookout for debtors and defaulters.
One of such altercations was witnessed today at Abesan estate in Ipaja area of Lagos state. According to eye witness, an Ikeja electric official insulted a customer by referring to him as jobless and financially incapable of paying his bills while also threatening to disconnect his apartment and cease his cable. The customer who was agitated by the actions of the official retaliated by also threatening to physically assault him, while also pointing out the fact that power was not stable in the area.
According to eye witness, the man made it clear to the Ikeja electric official that he had no right to disconnect his house or cease his cable as the area doesn't even enjoy stable electricity and that if he (the official) dared to disconnect his apartment he was going to regret his action. - DEMOLA ADEYEMI - PETER MADOJEMU
